History of Miniature Zebu Cattle

Miniature Zebu cattle are one of the oldest domesticated breeds in the world, with origins dating back over 3,000 years. They are descendants of Bos indicus, or humped cattle, native to India.

True to their name, Miniature Zebu are the smallest breed of cattle in the world. Adult zebus stand about 29 to 42 inches tall and weigh between 200 and 600 pounds, making them much smaller than typical cattle breeds. They are easily recognizable due to their distinctive physical features, including a pronounced hump over their shoulders, a sleek, shiny coat, and a large dewlap under their neck. Their most common color is gray, but they come in many other colors and patterns. You can raise two or three Miniature Zebu per acre. The average lifespan of Miniature Zebu is 20+ years.

Compared to other cattle breeds, Miniature Zebu require less feed and space, making them a suitable choice for small-scale farms and homesteads. They are also hardy and relatively disease-resistant. They can be utilized for milking purposes, or raised for meat production.

Miniature Zebu are perfect for families with children! They can be kept as pets, their size makes the cows much easier to handle.

These attributes make Miniature Zebu cattle a resilient and unique breed, popular for both practical uses and as pets.
